Decebt hotel for a small break
Great location, decent hotel. Breakfast was great, lots of choice and very spacious, so never felt uncomfortable during the morning rush. Pool area is big and never worried about getting a sunbed at any time. Hotel was clean and view from balcony of the bay in St Julians was nice to have. St Julian's itself is full of random apartments, run down buildings, insane roadworks and frankly is ugly in parts. St Julian's is for partying, whereas Sliema and particularly Valletta are much prettier but obviously quieter, we walked to Sliema and then got the ferry to Valletta, was all very easy to do. .
Not really a 4 star hotel if I'm honest, does need to be updated. We got a junior suite and although the room was big, it was sparce and a bit soulless but fine. Also things like clumps of adhesive around toilet flush, caulk missing under shower and two single beds pushed together etc don't exactly reflect the price paid for a junior suite. Pool bar serving cans of beer at €5 a pop instead of a proper beer from a tap was a bit disappointing and pool bar food was average. As in many of the other reviews, the lifts are a disaster to put it mildly and we used the stairs more often than not. They have a sign saying the lift will be upgraded this year, so it's clearly a big issue. Had a lovely holiday but probably wouldn't go back.
